EL NUEVO DIA
Juan Carlos Pérez-Duthie
MIAMI - Latin America, the United States, Puerto Rico and other markets will have the opportunity to be sincere with Chayanne, since this Satursday, it will begin in Punta del Este, Uruguay, his international concert tour, CHAYANNE SINCERO 2004, in support of his most recent album (Sony International.)
The singer begins an international journey that takes off from Uruguay, to promote his most recent album./Submitted by Alberto Tamargo.
So announced the Puerto Rican singer, dancer and actor in a press conference that took place yesterday and which had the particularity that, for the first time, the star invited the media to observe the installations where he’s been rehearsing since December for the tour, which will keep him occupied until November of this year.
“This is the stage we will be bringing with us. It will be the same everywhere. What perhaps may change a little in each country is the songs,” explained the artist at Forum A of the Greenwich Studios in North Miami, where he has rehearsed for other tours. Enormous panels with color lights spelling the word SINCERO served as background for the musical team onstage.
After the release of SINCERO in the fall of 2003, Chayanne devoted himself to promoting the album, hence no immediate concert tour, he explained. The tour will open with a series of concerts through South America that will cover besides Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.
On April 2nd the artist will perform at the Miami Arena in this city, continuing on to New York on the 4th and in Chicago on the 6th. Dates for the south west and east of the United States follow, to then return to Latin America, specifically Colombia, at the end of the month. In May, Chayanne will take his show, in which he’s accompanied by nine musicians and four dancers, to Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Venezuela and México. June and July he will be seen in México, Central America, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Spain, where he will spend the month of August.
Patricia Vega, the artist’s manager, indicated that concerts in Portugal, Italy, Rumania and Tukey will take place in September. Puerto Rico appears in Chayanne’s agenda for the month of October.
Even though the immigration requirements in the diverse countries have become more difficult, because of the events of September 11, 2001, as well as measures in response to immigration conditions set by the Unites States, the artists trusts that everything will go like clockwork.
“There have been more demands and more security in recent years, but I haven’t had any problems entering any country. And I hope nothing stays behind in customs,” he said.
The staging for the tour is inspired on the album, nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Latin Pop Album.
“The show leans more towards the new album, which is more soft-rock,” said Chayanne. “Every time I perform, I’m a ball of nerves. There is always the expectation and the hope that besides the show turning out fine, that the show is sold out. I become very nervous because I wand to give the people my best.”
During the press conference, Chayanne wanted to give his best to the media, singing live, with the musicians from his band, two of the songs. The first one, LIVE, was the Spanglish version of a song called VIVO POR TU AMOR, which was released as a bonus track from his 2000 album, SIMPLEMENTE.
“I have never sung this song in my concerts. It’s going to be one of several surprises,” he said excitedly.
The second song was CUIDARTE EL ALMA.
And how will he take care of his family when he’s absent from home for so long? “That is the difficult part of the career; to run the family aspect parallel to the music aspect,” he admitted. “But I will come to Miami often.”
