Are you wondering what all that stuff means in the navigation
bar of the La Playa board? Here's your answer!

These numbers show the number of the first message showing on the page, how many messages can still be viewed, and how many total messages have been posted. So, 215-278/278 means that the first message showing on this page is 215, and you can view 278 messages out of the 278 total messages that have ever been posted. If you saw 151-278/693, that would mean the first message on the page was number 151, and you could view 278 messages out of the 693 which had ever been posted.

This box tells you what page number of messages you are viewing. If you click on the little arrow, you'll see a drop down menu like the one in the lower picture to the left. Click on the page number you want to see and you will to to the messages on that page. If you click on the word "Today's", you will get a page containing only messages that have been posted today.

Clicking on this link takes you to the screen where you enter your post message.

When you click on the word "Find", you get a screen which lets you search the messages on the board. So if you remember that someone posted about pillowcases with Chayanne's face on them (!), but you can't remember WHO posted, or what day it was, or what the subject line said, you would click on "Find" and type the word "pillowcase" into the box and click the Submit! button. If this is all you do, the search will look in the subject line and the author name only. If you click in the box for "Search in message body" so that you see a little check mark there, the search will bring back the links to the messages which contain the word "pillowcase" inside the message. If you also check the box next to "Include contents of all messages in result" you will get a page containing all of the messages which have the word "pillowcase" in them right there, instead of the links to the messages.

Clicking on this reloads and refreshes the page you are viewing. If you've been looking at a page for a while, or you've been chatting in AOL Instant messenger, you can click on this word and see if anyone has posted anything new since the last time you looked.
Clicking on "Overview" will make the main page display only the link to the original topic, and not show the links to the replies underneath. If you click on a message link, you will see the links to the replies at the bottom of the message. If you click on "Overview" by mistake, you can click on the word "Newest" to go back to the long version of the page with all the messages and their replies listed.
Clicking on the word "Previous" will take you directly to the page previous to the one you are viewing, so if you are viewing page 1 you will go to page 2 if you click "Previous". If you have clicked on "Previous" and want to go back to where you were before, just click on "Newest" to go to page 1, or select a page from the drop down box described above.
Clicking on the word "Chat" will take you to the La Playa Chat room. This chat room is hosted here at La Isla and not at a public space like Bravenet. It's public in that anyone who visits the La Isla La Playa message board can get in, but private in that people who don't visit the message board don't see it advertised anywhere else on the Internet.
Clicking on the word "Register" will take you to a screen where you can register your screen name. You don't HAVE to register to read messages, or to post messages. If you do register, a little symbol will appear next to your name on the board, and anyone who sees that will know that it is always the same person posting with that screen name, because you'll have a password and no one else will be able to use that name.
Clicking on the word "Login" will take you to the log in screen. You don't have to log in if you don't register. If you do register, and you want the board to remember your password so you don't have to keep entering it, you will want to log in.
"Admin" is where I go to administer the board. I can change the features or delete those extra messages you posted that all look alike from here.
